ARO is born from an understanding of wellbeing as a balance between body, mind and environment. The project translates this idea into a space dedicated to conscious movement and recovery, moving away from the conventional codes of the gym to create a more intimate, serene and sensory atmosphere. Located in a historic building in Madrid’s Justicia neighborhood, the intervention draws on the character of the existing architecture to imagine a place where space and wellbeing become part of the same experience.

The project is shaped by a dialogue between the existing and the new. The original materiality of the building is preserved and incorporated as an active part of the proposal, while a series of new interventions introduce a different scale and sensibility. This coexistence allows the space to retain traces of its history while establishing an identity of its own, creating a warm and immersive setting that accompanies users throughout the different stages of their journey.
