Scalpers Woman’s new flagship store is taking on the ambitious challenge of forging an identity that characterises and defines the new world of women’s fashion. To achieve this, it is adopting an experimental approach that aims to redefine current fashion codes in order to create a shopping experience that rises to the challenge.

The new space has been designed based on a series of principles that seek to strike a balance between tradition and modernity, between heritage and innovation. In this regard, the building itself plays a key role in the shop’s design. The morphology of the space and its main features are analysed in order to bring out the best in them.

One of the first steps involves maximising the height of the structure. This gives the new space a much more monumental and imposing scale. To emphasise this, columns have been sculpted that evoke the most iconic architecture of our culture.

Once this shell or container has been defined, a series of geometric elements is designed to fill the space and delineate different areas. The arrangement of these elements alludes to the past and draws on the concept of a square to create a unique shopping experience.

These structures are designed to strike a balance between their more conceptual significance and the need for them to function as display stands. This promotes flexibility in elements which, whilst displaying products, can be understood as the benches or stands most characteristic of our traditional architecture.

This return to our roots is also reflected in the choice of materials, which link the design to the craftsmanship so characteristic of our tradition. Ceramic brick, available in a wide range of formats and colours, takes centre stage. Its expressiveness lends the space character and contrasts with the use of other, more subdued materials such as wood, which is used for the flooring.

This warmth contrasts with the use of more sophisticated and innovative materials, such as steel and Krion. The former is used in the design of the vertical display stands, whilst the latter provides the finishing touch and defines many of the geometric features.

This combination of elements creates a journey designed to intrigue and capture the passer-by’s attention. From the outside, the shop windows are designed with a clean, understated aesthetic that contrasts with the expressiveness of the interior. Once inside, the grandeur of the space suggests a kind of immersive experience that connects with the clothing display. Ultimately, the desire to emphasise the element of surprise is reflected in a design that is firmly committed to the use of innovative solutions and the utmost attention to detail.
