Open to the street and in full contact with Chamberí neighborhood, this space does not hide anything. Its raison d’être is not only to show and disseminate the art of architecture, but also to pursue the firm objective of mixing day-to-day work with a first-rate cultural activity.
DIIR space faithfully reflects the four pillars that define DIIR’s work. A space that talks about rigor through the mastery of technique. It talks about sensitivity through the respect for the material and the attention to detail. It talks about timelessness through the neutrality of its design. And it talks about resonance through the ability to create impact.
A good example of this is the 6-meter-long table that welcomes visitors. This sculptural piece becomes the main protagonist of the space. Its careful design mixes sophistication and craftsmanship and exemplifies the values of the studio.
This first room is conceived as a welcoming and meeting space. Its two large windows establish an interesting dialogue with Covarrubias Street. The multipurpose nature of this space, colonized only by the cantilevered table, is used to host cultural activities of various kinds.
From dinners to conferences, clothing or product exhibitions, its versatility offers numerous alternatives.
Next, and in direct contact with this first area, is the work space. Two large tables accommodate up to twelve workstations. Finally, a hinge space leads to two other rooms. One is used as a meeting room, while the other is the kitchen.
This space, designed down to the last detail, has the clear desire to receive a relevant role in the overall scheme. Its table welcomes numerous guests and becomes a pleasant space for improvised meetings. The bathrooms are located in direct contact with this room.
The palette of materials allows the space to be understood as a showroom. The solutions chosen reflect DIIR’s way of working. Thus, natural materials such as brick, cellulose or pine wood are mixed with more sophisticated ones such as vibrated aluminum.
This combination of materials is carefully studied to achieve a neutral and homogeneous environment.
