The evocative qualities of this place make this project an ambitious challenge. In order to face it successfully, the intervention is reduced to three gestures whose conceptual development allows us to understand the space in a certain way.
Firstly, a perimeter device runs along the store’s façade and changes its condition depending on its use. This means that the piece can become a mirror, a shelf, a bench or a flowerpot. Its versatility envelops the project and brings unity to the whole composition.
As a hinge element, a longitudinal piece of furniture is designed to act as a counter on the one hand and as a filter between spaces on the other. The more public and commercial area is intentionally separated from a service area that functions as an office, restroom, fitting room and access to the warehouse.
Finally, the most characteristic design of the store is located in the center of the public space. A sculptural volume is designed with the aim of organizing the sales space and, through its two openings, establishing a hierarchy of use. In the center of the composition, and perpendicular to this piece, a large cantilevered table is projected. The imposing 8 meters long exposes the most prominent product and generates a radial path around this element.
The volumetric power of these compositions contrasts with the neutrality of its tones. The peace that is sought to convey, allows to create an atmosphere where the product is always the main protagonist.
